How should I write a topic sentence about Sigmund Freud's background?

I'm writing a research paper and my first paragraph is supposed to be about his history, background, etc. I need a topic sentence that broadly references what the whole paragraph is about without being too specific. (I can't yet put where he was born or when) Can someone please give me an example?
