Opinion on the Oedipus Complex? Do men sleep with their mothers and try to kill their fathers?

I'm extremely open minded--and my parents hate the fact that I actually agree with Freud! Growing up (I'm female) I always strived for attention from my father. My mom and I actually fought--constantly. Now we're older and I have this conversation with my bf.. His idea of the perfect women is one who cooks, cleans, has babies, is nurturing--in other words, his mom. But still, he competes with his dad. Tries to show his dad that he's not only doing well, but has done better than his dad did while raising him. I know its not the exact same--but do you think it has the same complex? is it hard or untrue to admit?
