Did hamlet have an Oedipus complex?
Hmm. I've always found Hamlet to be quite complex. The main character had a broad range of psychological problems and much of the play is a study of them. I think Hamlet admired his father, King Hamlet to the extent that he wanted to _be_ his father. In Hamlet's mind the death of King Hamlet would allow him to step into his father's role and become the man his father was in every possible way. However, his plans were thwarted by his uncle, who killed his father, took the throne and married his mother. Consequently, Claudius had taken everything that Hamlet wanted. Hamlet therefore was interested in revenge.
