My face looks awful . Causing depression?
You may want to ask your doctor to incorporate an antibiotic into your regimen, to improve the condition of your skin in the short term. A couple potential ideas: doxycycline (oral), amoxicillin (oral), clindamycin (topical), mupirocin (topical). Stay away from the topical benzoyl peroxides, salicyclic acids and retinoic acids, those will just aggravate your symptoms. Accutane decreases the amount of sebum (skin oil) that is produced by the sebaceous glands. That's good for acne, because it slows down the growth of acne causing bacteria which use the sebum as a nutrition source. But it's tough on your skin, which depends on sebum as a lubricant and protectant. Make sure you moisturize with a non-comedogenic moisturizer, like Cetaphil (it's the best). You can also use it on your chapped lips. Also, you may want to look into blue light therapy or photo dynamic therapy to help improve your skin. There are many treatments that can be done in tandem with accutane treatment
