What did sigmund freud mean,when he said,a man's personality is form in the first five years of his life?

i have red a book which is author by sigmund freud.He wrote about the personality development of humans but i seams not to understand,.please someone should help me explain in simple terms,what he meant by,a man's personality is form in the first five years of his life.
