Why does Freud call religion the "universal obsessional neurosis" of humanity?

i guess because he thought there were similarities in the behaviour of religious people and people who are diagnosed with disorders where obsessive behaviours are disrupting their lives. I'm no expert on freudian psychoanalysis (or religions) but my guess is that he is referring to people praying 8 times a day, saying hail marys, approaching dozens of people a day in order to get the word out, etc etc
